Proud Moments

Most of you know that Eric is an ocularist. He makes prosthetic eyes for patients who have that need. We were invited to one of his patient's home for lunch on Saturday. While Eric was walking around the ranch with his patient, I was sitting with the wife when she told me what a difference Eric has made in their lives. She told me that her husband had been through a traumatic experience and was so sick of doctors, and as they sat in the waiting room at Eric's office he had decided that he was not going to get the prosthesis, because he didn't want to deal with another doctor. When he was taken back to the room to meet Eric, he explained why he didn't want to get it done. Eric's response was "we'll get along great, because I'm not a doctor." Since then Eric has made this patient a beautiful eye, and built a relationship of trust with him. We had lunch with this couple, and they sent us home with vegetables from their garden. The wife told me that she thinks Eric is brilliant and how happy her husband is now. I was so touched hearing this because Eric doesn't come home and tell me these things. I only know that he spends countless hours perfecting eyes, so that his patients are happy. I'm so proud of my husband who not only runs this business, but makes it his business that every patient leaves happy. On Saturday it was so nice to see how much his patients care for him, because I know that Eric genuinely cares for his patients.
