Once upon a time, in a country far away across the sea, where lions and elephants roam the fertile earth, there lived a beautiful princess with dark skin and fierce green eyes. Princes from every kingdom, near and far offered lavish gifts and silly lines to try to win the heart of Princess Samantha, for that was her name. What they did not expect however, was that her father, the Great King George was so ruthless, he could make even the most boastful of princes cry with his piercing words and heavy guilt trips. Some say the mere sight of his great, bald head could send the weaker suitors whimpering back to their cars in shame.
But the Princess didn't mind. In fact, she quite enjoyed the attention. Besides, she loved her daddy the most anyway, as it should be. The Princess was happy. She loved to swim, dance, ride off road vehicles (though at times she was a bit clumsy), and I shan't say she didn't find a bit of mischief every now and again, as is often the case for young princesses.
Then one day her world was shattered. It was a beautiful summer day when The Great King George announced that he and his Queen Sharon would be moving the royal court far across the sea to the farthest western regions of an unknown Promised Land. You see, mass transit just wasn't what it used to be and The Great King George's reknowned skills were needed in the new land. So they packed their things, said goodbye to the natives and began their long journey across the vast ocean.
The new land was nothing like the old one. Everything was different. Samantha's youngest sister even ate a whole scoop of butter thinking it was ice cream! The new land was cold and dark, but it was only winter. She would find the summer was much better. In fact the only thing that didn't change were the number of princes seeking the hand of the young princess. King George derived particular pleasure from making this new crop cry, and though it was whispered that it was simply a mild case of hair envy, we now know that truthfully, he's a big teddy bear. He just liked to see if he could do it.
Princess Samantha, though she enjoyed all the attention from these strangers with funny accents, was generally bored and uninterested in her suitors. Most of them tried too hard and some were even sociopathological. This simply would not do. And so, she decided that she did not need the attention of any prince. She would be an independent woman, and that she became. Until the day she met the Artist...
